Bridge

It is a metal component screwed into the body. One end of the strings is secured to it.
The bridge is formed by a plate with a raised edge. The saddles, which the strings rest upon, are fixed to such plate.
A sturdy bridge increases the sustain (sound duration).

By acting on the saddle screws with a screwdriver and/or an Allen key it is possible to adjust the intonation and height of the strings (in combination with the truss rod).

To give more sustain to the sound, some bass models allow you to anchor the strings to bushings mounted on the back of the body, making them pass through the body of the instrument and then resting normally on the bridge saddles.
