Beyond the harmonic foundation
Having clarified the bass’ main harmonic-rhythmic function (and understood the area that a bass player must never stop delving into: harmony and chord progressions), it is good to remember that the electric bass, as in general all the instruments at low frequencies, is capable of expressing wonderful melodies and can be the protagonist in all musical genres with improvisations and obbligatos of the highest quality. In addition, our instrument, which is particularly versatile, through some specific techniques creates splendid performances based on percussive rhythm (slap) or on the contemporary performance of bass and melody (tapping).
